About Country by IP Address

What is IP Geolocation?

IP geolocation is the process of determining the physical location of a device connected to the internet using its IP address. Every device connected to the internet is assigned an IP address by its Internet Service Provider (ISP). GeoIP databases map these addresses to geographic locations including country, city, region, latitude/longitude, and ISP information.

Why We Built This Tool

DevOps engineers and network administrators frequently need to identify the origin of traffic, verify CDN routing, check if a VPN is working correctly, or investigate suspicious connections. This tool provides instant geolocation data without requiring command-line tools, API keys, or third-party accounts.

How to Use It

Enter any IPv4 or IPv6 address in the input field and click Lookup. The tool queries a GeoIP API and returns the country, city, region, ISP, ASN (Autonomous System Number), timezone, and coordinates. You can also leave the field empty to look up your own public IP address.

Common Use Cases

Verifying CDN edge server locations, checking VPN/proxy exit points, identifying the source of DDoS traffic, validating geo-restricted content delivery, auditing firewall rules based on country of origin, and debugging DNS resolution issues related to geographic routing.

Accuracy & Limitations

IP geolocation is generally accurate to the country and city level for most commercial IPs. However, mobile carriers, VPNs, proxies, and satellite connections may return inaccurate locations. Enterprise IP ranges may also show the location of a corporate headquarters rather than the actual user location.
